‘Now I understand that there are two melodies playing, one below the other, one easier to hear, the other lower, steady, perhaps more faithful for being less heard yet always present.’

Melissa Rose Spencer | Therapy for HSPs | Trauma | Bereavement | Neurodivergence | Somatic Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Supervisor & Breathwork Coach | Huddersfield & Online UK

Welcome - Melissa Rose Spencer, a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Supervisor, and Breathwork Coach based in Marsden, Huddersfield nestled on the edge of the Peak District National Park. I work with Highly Sensitive People (HSPs), deep feelers, creatives, neurodivergent clients, and those moving through grief, trauma, anxiety, identity exploration, or spiritual emergence.

I hold space for those who are seeking to return to themselves - to breathe more deeply, feel more fully, and live more freely. My approach to therapy is gentle, soulful, and collaborative. It is built on trust, intuition, presence, and respect for the whole of who you are. I offer in-person therapy from a cosy, private space surrounded by nature, online counselling, walk-and-talk therapy and creative supervision for therapists and space-holders.

A Creative & Somatic Approach to Therapy

The therapy & supervision that I offer combines traditional talking therapy with creative, and somatic practices, such as:

  • Breathwork &body-based awareness

  • Guided imagery & visualisation

  • Journaling, drawing & expressive arts

  • Nature therapy & ritual

My work is informed by person-centred, Internal Family Systems (IFS), transpersonal, and existential therapy, and a deep respect for the nervous system, and trauma healing. I am committed to offering a non-pathologising, trauma-informed space where your story is honoured, and your pace is trusted.

Holding Space for Deep Feelers & HSPs

As a highly sensitive person myself, I understand how easily the world can feel like too much. Sensitivity is not a flaw - it’s a profound strength. It’s a deep well of empathy, intuition, and creative insight. In my practice, I offer a space where your sensitivity is not just accepted, but honoured. A space for those who feel deeply, and need room to exhale, and be met in their full depth.

My Path & Practice

Before becoming a therapist, I worked for several years in roles centred on care and advocacy as a Social Worker, Mental Health Advocate, and Family Support Worker. Alongside my formal training I’ve pursued further learning in:

  • Trauma-informed care & psychoeducation

  • Somatic approaches to healing

  • Yoga, energy work & breathwork

  • Shamanic practice & earth-based spirituality

Beyond qualifications this work is woven from my own lived journey - one of descent, healing, remembering, and return. I have walked the path of grief, soul-searching, rebirth, and self-reclamation. My ongoing personal practices of movement, counselling, ritual, nature connection, and creativity nourish my capacity to walk beside you.

I am an animist at heart, a member of the Order of Bards, Ovates & Druids, and a lover of myth, cycles, wild waters, and herbal brews. I find belonging in the forest, at the oceans edge, and in shared moments of realness and connection.

Why I Do This Work

I believe that healing is not about fixing what is broken but about remembering what is whole. Therapy to me is a sacred space where we nurture the tender places, listen for what wants to be known, and meet ourselves with kindness.

If you are seeking counselling in Huddersfield, online psychotherapy & counselling supervision across the UK, or a trauma-aware breathwork guide, I would be honoured to journey alongside you.
