  • I offer holistic counselling and psychotherapy that integrates traditional talking therapies with creative and somatic approaches, including breathwork coaching, drawing, painting, writing and guided imagery. My practice is trauma-informed and person-centred, drawing on Internal Family Systems (IFS), existential, and transpersonal therapy methods to support your healing journey.

  • My services support adults experiencing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, CPTSD, neurodivergence, bereavement, life transitions, spiritual exploration, and identity questions. Whether you’re seeking emotional wellbeing, self-discovery, or post-traumatic growth, therapy with Melissa is tailored to your unique needs.

  • Online therapy sessions are held via secure video platform, allowing you to receive counselling and breathwork coaching from the comfort and privacy of your own home. I work with clients across the UK and internationally ensuring confidentiality and a warm, supportive connection regardless of location.

  • Face-to-face sessions take place in a cosy, private room in Marsden, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire - on the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park. This peaceful setting supports grounding and connection.

  • While each person’s journey is unique, I recommend committing to an initial 10 weekly sessions. This allows time for trust to build, meaningful exploration, and integration. Afterward, sessions can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly, or monthly based on your evolving needs.

  • During your first session we’ll explore your reasons for seeking therapy, discuss your goals, and establish a safe, trusting space. This session is client-led, focusing on what feels most important to you while outlining how therapy can support your growth and healing.

  • Yes. As a trauma-informed breathwork coach, I use gentle, grounding breathing techniques designed to support and soothe sensitive nervous systems. Unlike intense practices like holotropic or rebirthing breathwork, my approach prioritises safety, choice, and gradual attunement to your body’s wisdom.

  • Creative and somatic therapies help reconnect the mind, body, and spirit. They provide alternative ways to express emotions and access inner wisdom beyond words, making them especially powerful for trauma healing, emotional regulation, and self-discovery.

  • 50 minute counselling sessions offer you space to explore through talking and creative expression. We can integrate somatic approaches such as grounding, mindfulness, focusing, shamanic journeying and breathwork.

    90 minute sessions are available for breathwork coaching clients and/or for client who want space for deeper integration. These can be booked alongside regular counselling sessions or as stand-alone sessions.

Counselling Supervision FAQS

  • Counselling supervision is a collaborative, reflective relationship that supports safe, ethical and effective therapeutic practice. It provides a dedicated space to explore client work, ethical dilemmas, professional development, self-awareness and the emotional impact of being a therapist. I offer person-centred, trauma-informed clinical supervision that integrates relational, creative, somatic, existential and Internal Family Systems (IFS) perspectives where helpful.

  • I offer counselling supervision for trainee counsellors, qualified counsellors, psychotherapists and other helping professionals. I welcome practitioners from a range of therapeutic modalities and have a particular interest in supporting therapists working with trauma, grief, Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), neurodivergence, spirituality, creativity and embodied approaches. Whether you're in placement, newly qualified or an experienced practitioner, supervision offers space for reflection, growth and support.

  • No. You don't need to practise from the same therapeutic approach as I do. While my work is grounded in person-centred counselling and informed by creative, somatic, transpersonal and existential perspectives, I welcome counsellors and psychotherapists from a wide range of modalities. Good counselling supervision is about supporting your way of working while offering fresh perspectives, thoughtful challenge and compassionate reflection.

  • Supervision is about much more than discussing client work. You might bring ethical questions, relational dynamics, countertransference, imposter feelings, confidence, professional identity, burnout, boundaries, creative ideas or the emotional impact of therapeutic work. Together we'll create a reflective space where you can think deeply, stay connected to yourself and your clients, and continue developing your practice with confidence.

  • The frequency of counselling supervision depends on your professional body, client caseload and stage of practice. I offer weekly, fortnightly and monthly clinical supervision, and together we'll agree a rhythm that supports your work, meets professional requirements and provides the level of reflection and support you need.

  • Yes. I offer online counselling supervision for counsellors and psychotherapists across the UK and Europe using secure video calls. I also provide in-person counselling supervision from my practice in Marsden, West Yorkshire, welcoming practitioners from Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Saddleworth, Oldham and the surrounding areas.

  • Yes. While I welcome counsellors and psychotherapists from all backgrounds, I have a particular interest in supporting therapists who identify as creative, Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), neurodivergent, or who are exploring spirituality, meaning and embodied ways of working.

    Many practitioners find that these aspects of themselves influence how they experience therapeutic relationships, boundaries, empathy, creativity and professional identity. Supervision offers a compassionate, reflective space to explore these experiences without needing to mask or explain yourself. Together we can think about your client work while also supporting your own authenticity, wellbeing and sustainable practice.
